Because there’s nothing like a spring semester at Marist. Put on your favorite River + Stone tee and tackle these 12 tips to ensure it’s the best.
1. Take a day trip to New Paltz
Downtown New Paltz has a ton of artisanal shops that are within walking distance of each other, which is the perfect way to spend a spring afternoon. You should also probably go to the Gilded Otter for lunch and get cheese curds.
2. Rossi’s by the River
Go get a chicken cutlet, pesto, mozzarella, and roasted pepper on focaccia, and then sit on a blanket by the river. You can thank me later.
3. Hike at Lake Minnewaska
Take the scenic route and explore the other side of the river. Swim in a waterfall, take in the beautiful views, and get a great Instagram out of it. What more could you want?
4. Marist Beach
Make it through the entire spring semester without skipping your 3:30 to lay on the green with your friends. I dare you.
5. Silver Needle Fashion Show
Watch the creations of the incredibly talented fashion students walk the runway in the annual Silver Needle Fashion Show.
6. River Fest and Foxfest
If you’re a senior this is the moment we’ve been wanting for 4 years, RIVERFEST! If you’re still an underclassmen, go eat a ton of food on the green, bungee jump on the trampolines, and stick yourself to a velcro wall. Not a bad way to spend a Friday afternoon.
7. Lola’s and the Walking Bridge
Nothing says what a time to be alive like peanut noodles and Hudson views.
8. Brunch – everyone’s favorite meal
Poughkeepsie has an INCREDIBLE selection of restaurants and does brunch so right. Put on your Sunday finest and head to Shadows, Crave, Ice House, BC Café, ect. ect. ect.
9. Drive-in movie theater
Grab your friends, get in the car, and go watch a classic at the Hyde Park drive-in.
10. Go to a sports game or student performance
Whether you’re rocking a River + Stone tee at the lacrosse game or watching a Dance Ensemble or MCCTA performance, there’s no denying that Marist’s got talent.

11. Picnic at the Vanderbilt
Bring food, walk around the historic Vanderbilt Mansion, and pretend you’re American royalty.
12. And lastly, Spring Concert: Sammy Adams and Kid Ink
Sorry Sammy, but we don’t hate college.
